Temporary Work: What You Need to Know
Everything you need to understand about working as a temp, from expectations to essential information.
What is Temporary Work?
Temporary work — sometimes called contracting, interim, or freelance — means you’ll be recruited, placed, and supported by Mason Doyle Solutions, but for legal and payroll purposes, you’ll be employed by SG Umbrella.
In practice, this means:

Mason Doyle Solutions will find you assignments, liaise with clients, and be your day-to-day point of contact.

SG Umbrella will be listed as your official employer and will handle your pay, tax, and holiday accrual.
Assignments take place at our clients’ premises and can last from a single day to several months, with pay on an hourly basis.

Before You Start an Assignment
Mason Doyle Solutions will provide:

Client company name, location, and who to report to

Role description, hours, and pay rate

Any health & safety requirements
How You’ll Get Paid

Record your weekly hours (excluding breaks) on a timesheet

Have your on-site manager approve it
-
Submit it to Mason Doyle Solutions — we pass it to SG Umbrella for processing

SG Umbrella runs weekly payroll — funds reach your account by Friday if received by 3pm Friday
Holiday Pay

Accrues from day one (pro-rata)

Four weeks per year entitlement

One week’s notice needed to take holiday

Cannot be carried over to the next year

Your Responsibilities

Reliability – Work the agreed hours; inform Mason Doyle Solutions promptly if you can’t attend
